Leaf

Natural leaf of Camellia sinensis var. assamica sourced from tea plantations around Yiwu (Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, China).

Leaf is plucked, fixed, rolled and sun-dried. After that we press it into teacake shape and thus raw pu-erh tea is ready for further long-term natural post-fermentation process.

Shape

Tea is pressed in a form of teacake (七子饼 qizibing).

Teacake is warpped in paper.

The weight of teacake is 357 g (12.6 oz).

In order to keep leaf loose we use traditional stone press for pressing raw pu-erh teacakes.

Brewing

Teacake can be brewed in any way you like. We advice to start with tea-water about 1:60-100, water temperature – just of the boil, brewing time 3-4 min. The leaf is big so multiple infusions are preferable.

Considering nature and size of the leaves used for this tea we found it to be most suitable for following brewing methods:

  • Gaiwan
  • Teapot
  • Big infuser
  • French press
  • Grandpa style bootle brewing
