Yunnan Black Tea in Bamboo Leaf Tube (80 Cups) Black Tea (7.1 Ounce)

Pressed, but not pu-erh tea. Made from the same variety and using almost the same process as common Assam tea, but lighter fermented, less astringent, more sweet.

Natural leaf of Camellia sinensis var. assamica sourced from high altitude tea plantations of Fengqing county of Yunnan Province, China.

After plucking and withering leaves are rolled and sent to oxidation (fermentation). After fermentation lose leaf tea is dried and sorted. This product was made of blend of whole and broken leaves for the convenience of pressing and brewing.

Tea is pressed in a form of small flat cake which can easily be divided in 2 parts.

Minicakes are wrapped together in paper tube. The tube is wrapped into traditional yunnan tea package material - bamboo culm sheath.

The weight of minicake is about 11-13 g, so one part of it is enough for brewing 400-600 ml (13-20 oz) of tea for one person. While whole minicake is enough for a tea party with family or friends.

Minicake can be brewed in any way you like. We advice to start with tea-water ratio about 1:100, water temperature - just of the boil, brewing time 3-4 min.

Yunnan black tea is good for making refreshing iced tea, 1 teacake is good for 1.2 qt of iced tea.

Considering fermentation, leaf fraction and size of this tea we found it to be most suitable for following brewing methods:

  • Teapot with sifter
  • French press
